The Petronio Bendito Collective

Purdue University

West Lafayette, IN

This project was the invention of Petrônio Bendito for the Purdue University 2013 TEDx.  We took choreography that was created by Carol Cunningham-Sigman and Amberly Simpson and created an interaction between the dancer and the living drawing that Petrônio created on a screen using a front projector.  The lighting was implemented to add another level to the performance.  It was not only used to enhance the dancer through the piece, but also to help create a dynamic interaction with the drawings.  The colors used were chosen to help make a subtle emphasis on the dancer against the drawings that were on her and behind her.

Our Beauty: The Transcendant Journey

Purdue University

West Lafayette, IN

This was a project in conjuction with Purdue University and the Cancer Culture & Community organization.  What we set out to do was to create an exhibit that centered around the speeches and stories of various individuals that were shared at the Community Cancer Network's event "Carry the Torch".  The sound design class at the university took the stories and created a soundscape for the exhibit.  The lighting then was implemented to help create an environment for someone to come in and experience these stories.  We created a space that moved from darkness of the fear and unknowingness of cancer into the light of hope that can come with the struggle.  The texture on the wall was used to create the beams of light that help signify a hopeful end to such a dark and possibly devestating event.
